Helio San Miguel

Helio San Miguel was born in Madrid, Spain, where he studied film and philosophy. His passion for filmmaking led him to New York where he completed his MFA in Film Direction and Production from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Helio has worked in a number of short and independent productions, and just finished writing the screenplay Ike’s Place, a feature-length political thriller about an unprecedented crisis that takes place on Election Day. He has contributed to two film books, The Cinema of Latin America, published by Wallflower Press in London, and Tierra en Trance, published by Alianza Editorial in Madrid. Helio also holds a Ph. D. in philosophy, and teaches film analysis courses at The New School. He currently lives in New York City.
